A Day at the Citadel – Hosny Abo Bakr

Sale priceLE 95,000.00

There are certain things in Alexandria that, if removed, the city would no longer feel like Alexandria. One of them is the experience of visiting the Citadel of Qaitbay. Parents take their children there for an outing, couples go there to spend time together, and school trips visit it as well. It is a place enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, young and old, Egyptians and foreigners.

For me, anyone who has never visited the Citadel of Qaitbay has not truly experienced Alexandria. This is why I felt it was essential to document the character and presence of the Citadel in my paintings, as an artistic historian of Egyptian heritage.

Hosny Abo Bakr of the Plastic Artists Syndicate. Known for contemporary style blending experimentation with Egyptian visual identity. His artistic mission is documenting Egyptian heritage and creating a visual archive of paintings that preserves Egyptian identity. Participated in multiple group and solo exhibitions across Egypt since 2014.
