Here, amid the overgrown plants along the riverbank, beside the Egyptian countryside in Cairo. Yes, countryside—in Cairo!
This is Geziret El-Dahab, also known as “Between the Two Seas,” as it is called by its residents. It is a world of countryside, fishermen, boats, animals, and kind-hearted farmers.
After asking permission, I entered, together with my fellow artists and companions from the “One-Shot” group, a passage leading into the unknown, seeking to explore the complete lives of the fishermen inside their homes. Yes, their boats are their homes. They live in them, cook their food, wash and hang their clothes, sleep in them, and wake up there.
We were searching for reflections—the reflections of their lives upon the surface of the water, gently rippling and sparkling with the passing breezes, touching our hearts. I felt that the tools and objects surrounding their little kingdom needed the adhesive quality of collage art to convey this rich, densely layered state, filled with accumulated forms and textures, much like our own lives and the layers that have built upon one another over the years.

I tried to capture the reflection along with the atmosphere of their kingdom, while even the opposite riverbank was expressed through quick, spontaneous touches, as though life reveals itself for a fleeting moment… then closes its eyes once again.

Founder and supervisor of the One-Shot Artists Group since 2002.
Worked as a press illustrator for several publications, including Sabah El-Kheir magazine.
Worked in animation and book arts.
Nominated for the State Award for Excellence by Helwan University in 2022 and by the Syndicate of Plastic Artists in 2024.
Has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions since his student years.
Received four awards at the Youth Salon and an award at the Ismailia Film Festival.
Served as a jury member on numerous committees in the fields of visual arts, animation, and caricature.
In 2024, he was honored and presented with the Golden Pen as a Guest of Honor at the 6th edition of the Dr. Nawar Drawing Award at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Russian University.
In 2025, he was honored by the Ministry of Culture during Culture Day, celebrating Egypt’s creative artists.
