I adore Alexandria in winter, during the storms, when the waves collide in an ambiguous, surreal battle. These two paintings are an attempt to capture the waves and the sounds of their crashing, once against an ancient lighthouse and once against the historic Citadel of Qaitbay. It is a battle between the forces of nature and human heritage, and between nature and what humanity has created.
