Love Story – Mervat El Shazly

Mervat Shazly Helaly The artist draws inspiration from the traditional arts of Southern Egypt, presenting them through a contemporary artistic approach.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Cairo, graduating with a Very Good grade. She earned a Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Department of Painting, in 1998, with her thesis focusing on “The Impact of the Nubian Environment on the Works of Egyptian Artists.”
In 2009, she obtained a PhD in Fine Arts, Department of Painting, with her dissertation titled “Contemporary Egyptian Painting from 1970 to 2000: Between Heritage and Modernization.”
She is a member of the Syndicate of Fine Artists and has been actively involved in the Egyptian contemporary art movement, participating in numerous group and national exhibitions, as well as various international exhibitions.
Her international participation includes the Luxor International Biennale in 2018, the Sheikha Suad Al-Sabah Biennale in 2017, the Egyptian Art Exhibition in Paris in 2012, and the Contemporary Egyptian Art Exhibition in South Africa in 2010.
She has held 19 solo exhibitions and has received numerous national and international awards, along with several certificates of appreciation.
Her artworks are held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in Cairo, the Nile Museum in Aswan, and Commercial International Bank (CIB), as well as in private collections in Egypt, the United States, Italy, Japan, and several Arab countries.
