The painting depicts a scene from traditional wedding celebrations in Upper Egypt, where family and members of the community gather to celebrate the occasion. Men and young people perform the famous traditional Tahtib stick game to the rhythms of the mizmar and the beating of traditional drums known as naqqara.

At the center of the composition, the Tahtib performers engage in their traditional stick dance, surrounded by a circle of spectators. Among them are the naqqara drummer, mizmar musicians, and a group of women expressing their joy and happiness through their colorful and varied traditional clothing.

The background presents a view of the traditional houses of southern Egypt, featuring monumental Nubian gateways richly decorated with ornamental motifs, along with Chinese ceramic plates embedded in the plasterwork. Behind the houses, a horizontal line suggests the rocky landscape characteristic of the region, beneath a clear open sky.

The painting employs a harmonious and subdued color palette that conveys the atmosphere of the crowded gathering while emphasizing the strong sense of social connection and communal solidarity that characterizes celebrations and special occasions in Upper Egyptian culture.
