The Braids and The Teddy Bear - Manal Stino

The Braids and The Teddy Bear is a creative self-portrait of the child in my mind — not a literal representation of myself, but an expression of how I imagine myself as a young girl.
I believe there is a child within each of us, regardless of age — curious, playful and endlessly imaginative. Through vivid color and a dreamlike atmosphere, I explore that sense of childhood wonder and joy, while the teddy bear evokes the comfort and security of the things we instinctively hold close.
This work invites the viewer to reconnect with the child within.

Manal Stino is an Egyptian painter who discovered her passion for art at an early age, finding joy in drawing and painting as a beloved hobby. However, in her late teens, a tragic event led to the loss of all her artwork. Devastated, she stepped away from painting and shifted her focus to her studies, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo in 2001.
She began her professional career in finance, working for several years before choosing to dedicate herself fully to motherhood. Despite the passing years, her artistic spirit never faded. At the age of forty, she felt an undeniable urge to return to painting and rediscover the creative voice she had once set aside.
Her return to art received immediate recognition when she shared her first painting on social media. The work quickly attracted attention and several purchase requests before ultimately being sold. This marked the beginning of her journey as a professional painter in 2019.
Since then, Manal has explored and developed her skills across various artistic styles, including Modernism, Impressionism, Abstract Art, and Cubism. Working primarily with oil and acrylic, she continues to expand the boundaries of her creative practice.
Her artwork has reached collectors across Europe, North America, and the Arab world. She has also participated in numerous local and international exhibitions, receiving recognition and awards at several of them.
For Manal, painting is more than a profession; it is a lifelong passion and a form of expression that transcends words, allowing her to convey emotions and stories through color and form. Painting is, for her, a lifelong passion that helps her express what she cannot put into words.
